I’ve never been big on dance music. In particular, electronic dance music and techno, though you’ll never be me “tearin ‘it up” in “Da Club” to be the latest pop stylings. Fifteen years ago I would have said that the reason why I is not like a frat house, because it lacked the soul. The fact that DJs are not the music, because real music is already on the disk is spinning it, and no amount of mixing or rearrange the output to qualify as a true original creation. Perhaps my prejudices against this idea comes from the electronica irrational, but deeper than any recording artist, whose main instrument is a computer or hard drive is somehow cheated.
Today I am a little older and a little wiser. In recent years I’ve learned that there is a real talent, up beats and fills. It is above all the talent needed to produce a hook toe tapping.
